The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

This morning I noticed a purple Iris had bloomed. We are supposed to be in the twenties tonite. First time this winter. It won't last though. We will be near 70 next week again. I am ready for Spring.
Would kill for 70's now, the dull, deal stillness of winter is really wearing me out..

My pineapple pear tree is in bloom, and the top is leafed out. I hope we get just a smidgeon of ice to protect it. 22 forecast for here tonight The big Buffs are in their house, snug with lots of straw, and a light. They will be toasty, and Monty's and Hungry's combs will be safe. The 6 babies are burrowed in their straw too.Waterer heat ON ! Everything is now icing, and the bamboo is down. Not to worry it will come up. The generator will kick in to keep us and the koi safe. Life is good.

LOL a chicken in boots... hahahahah have to make them so as the toenails hang out.. hahaha I can just picture that...   He would need a sock hat too... I worry about combs freezing.

He is spoiled.

I put the English Buff trio in the nursery about a week ago.  Both pullets are laying nicely with Midas at the helm.  Soo all the chicks from there will be pure..  Then I turned Don Juan loose in coop with the rest of the American Orps I have.  I will remove my older hens once Don's pullets start to lay. :)

I will be setting Danny up with at least 3 very nice black hens come spring in his own area :)  for which I will be sending you eggs from there. :)

This season is going to be busy, busy, busy... did I say busy.... lol soo busy

That splash is a typy fella, his comb looks so vibrant and healthy.

Cant wait to see Renie Danny babies..and more english buffs..

Vickie, I went out and powdered everyone today because a lot of wild birds come in to pick feed..Everybody clean as can be..With all those juncos and blujays Thought I better take precautions..Those babies are HEAVY! boo is too..mrs softie is big and good meat on her but she feels like a feather ball when you pick her up..I set some of her eggs today so we shall see..I have a feeling I will be trimming her fanny feathers.

shedding baby feathers..I roughed them up with some powder.
