Very nice babies, Joe! Seriously though, everything I've seen is awesome! Sorry if I didn't comment on anyone's in particular. Just such an overload of awesome today.

About 3 or 4 years ago I was working on a Mottled project but my genes were crazy
This hen here looked like this and then she molted and was completely black and then molted and was more traditionally mottled. The next time she molted black again

This was one of her offspring

This was another offspring of the above hen bred to her son

Then there was this one that hatched black and turned this color. He was going to be a pretty boy till a dog came in my yard and killed him before I could get to him. Tore the heart out of my project and I just gave up and sold all of them. I do love the color though. Like I said the gene I had was not very normal

Julie, That is sad about your rooster. It was also strange that mottling was switching on and off. They were some really nice looking birds.

Dee, these are the moms and dad. He is a little rugged right now as I just put him back with BBS group and a blue roo. They are learning to get along again.........

I took these today and of course it is nothing but mud outside....

Ladies first,

Some chick pics from yesterdays long hatch. Hatching began at the start of Day 21 and ended at the start of Day 23. I'm using an older GQF 1266 and temps vary from top to bottom. Strangely it is hotter at top and bottom than in the middle. I'm planning to add a small computer fan to get more even temps.
There's not much difference between Reds and Jubilees at this age.

The red orps kind of look like Jubilee chicks, very cute!
