The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

About 3 or 4 years ago I was working on a Mottled project but my genes were crazy
This hen here looked like this and then she molted and was completely black and then molted and was more traditionally mottled. The next time she molted black again

This was one of her offspring

This was another offspring of the above hen bred to her son

Then there was this one that hatched black and turned this color. He was going to be a pretty boy till a dog came in my yard and killed him before I could get to him. Tore the heart out of my project and I just gave up and sold all of them. I do love the color though. Like I said the gene I had was not very normal

Julie, what ever happened to the mottled project birds? They are lovely!

Hey those are some nice blacks Nellie.
Love the chick pics.

I gave away to people wanting chickens and sold off what I had. It just tore the heart out of my project when the dog killed that one. They were some really large ones too but any whoo. I am glad there are some mottled gene here. I do love the beauty of the black and white mottling.
My friend Imogene took some of the feathers off my boy that got killed and made me a beautiful pen to wear . I should get it out and take a pic. She is talented

Here are my little black fluffy butts...they are 3 days old today.

This one must be a cockerel, he seems so proud of himself

funny dance LOL

Dee, these are the moms and dad. He is a little rugged right now as I just put him back with BBS group and a blue roo. They are learning to get along again.........

Well I have lurked long enough to know I want an English flock. Thanks to all for the pictures and knowledge. If the sun ever comes out I will be sure to post a picture of my 1 and only, English cockerel. He is shacked up with one white hen at a time while I test for dominant or recessive white on my ladies. Pretty sure they are recessive, but I must know for sure!! Again, thanks to all for the picture posts. Looking at so many really helps to train my eye and mind in what looks good and what don't. Carry on please. :p
