The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

She looks like she will definitely have English angle to her tail Which is genrally a 45 degree angle according to my English orp book

Aside from the huge difference in size between the US Orps and the English Orps, the tail is a dead give-away, also the loose feather fluff hanging down versus the "poofy" feathers.

CLementine - note the tail and loose feathers

When I ordered mine a few years ago I ordered it from ebay, only place I could find the book was UK and had to have it mailed!! Mailing cost more than the book did! Mine is The Orpington Fowl (second edition) Will Burdette, MBE and Dr. Joseph Batty.

I ordered my Book from Abebooks. It was used but looked new when it arrived. It is a hardback first addition. It was about 70 dollars and 7 to have it mailed. It was shipped from UK. I dont' think they have any here. Barnes and Noble used to carry it but do not anymore.

I took a few pics this evening before I had to go to town. They were not as good as I had hoped for since i was in a hurry.

Joy this one is for you. It is the first pullet I hatched from the egg you sent me.

I was looking at the latest pics and my daughter (who is 8) says with awe in her voice "They are beautiful, and are they for sale?"

Everyone's English Orps are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

I love the progressive photos of Charlie. Does anyone have one for a hen?
