I have a hen that doesn't lay, and she is a red sex-link at that. She is happy and healthy as a horse but I guess she is just infertile. My husband calls her "freeloader" but she is a really sweet girl.

They were not young and they were fat. Too fat can slow production. He was very disappointed they didn't lay. They may have been inbred. Anyway he never did get anything out of them. He had them for 3 yrs at least. I remember seeing them a couple of years in row when I wouild be in Fl at my sisters we woiuld go by and see Him. I know he had some Blacks from Catalpa grove Farms too. They had got out of the blacks and blues but now are back at it and doing very well. They really know what they are doing to get size on a bird.Cant wait to see your new babies !
That is very strange about those hens not laying...makes you wonder..too inbred? getting old? that is very strange..too bad too..Im sure they were amazing..seems its always the important ones..the only experience I have had with that is when they are getting old..

.my vet warned me years ago about not letting the birds get fat..lots of exercise she told me..she had me pick up one of the birds..and said this is exactly how i want them to feel when you pick them up..and she picked up one that she said was little overweight..she told me that one needed to be separated for breakfast..she monopolizes the feed.have to watch her...![]()
.i bet those birds in fla are a sight to behold.glad they are back at it..some people are just really good at it..sorry they got out of it for a while..hope it wasnt some of the mean people out there ......i know some people act like they own a certian breed or are self entitlement...but in the end, god decides those things , not men..just hope they didnt get discouraged like that.and i hope thats not the case..the more people bother me, the more determined i get..its nothing more than a spur in my butt..just glad whatever the reason they are going again..
maybe sometime when you go over they might allow you to take a pic or 2 ..everyone here would enjoy seeing them.
