Alton I am glad you caught these. They are terrible predator for chickens. YOur chicks are really cute.

Hi all ... I am new here, my name is Katie and I'm from Texas. I want to show off my new babies and I guess this thread is where this all goes, huh? These are English Orps - the Father Roo was on site today at purchase and was SPECTACULAR and one of the largest Roos I have ever seen! Direct import from England; he seems to make beautiful babies. :)

Here are the new babies (I also got some French Maran pullets and some Creme Legbar eggs, which are currently snuggled under my broody Cochin.

Welcome to the forum and cute chicks. I am not familiar with where you said the Roo was posted. I would love to see him. Where exactly can we take a wiew

I'll try to get a pic of the roo at the farm where I got the chicks when I go back on Saturday. He is massive and beautiful. I want one now, but husband says no Roos right now. I'll need to ask the owners permission to take pics (I'm a professional photographer, so I have to follow the rules) but I will offer to send her all images so she might allow me.

Thanks for the welcome!

That would be great. Are you allowed to say who you purchased them from? I am always interested in Big blacks. The biggest Black I have ever seen was not a import but I have never seen another Cock that large. He belonged to Rusty Wilkie in Fl. I think he purchased from a man getting out of Orps. He weighed 16 lbs and was very Wide and tall. The hens with him weighed 14 lb.

To be honest, this is all so new to me, I'm not sure of proper etiquette! I'd rather not throw names out in a public forum for now... I'd hate to annoy my source, especially since I would like to keep working with them!
