The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

A special thank you to Martha for letting me know about the whole EBay episode. Thanks to several of you reporting it, he was shut down in a matter of an hour or so,

On a different note, when it cools off enough to ship, I have three Gold Laced cockerels, that were hatched out Feb , that need a home. They are 50% GFF/50% Marc. Send me a PM if you're interested. They are my culls, but would be a good start for a project if someone wanted the diversity in bloodline. As always, I'm just asking for box fee/shipping. I'm just trying to keep them out of the stew pot.

Just a question for all of you, how much would a pol English standard Orpington hen or a mature cockerel cost in America, here you can get fairly nice birds for 15 to 30 euro which is 20 to 40 US Dollars

it depends on the quality of the birds...I payed 40 us dollars for 2 pol black imported english pullets last year but I bought them from a friend locally so he gave a discount....I would full expect to pay any where from $40 - $150 per pullet/cockerel depending on the quality.

I also have imports from Marc. My girls start laying at 20 weeks almost to the day.
Thank you for the info. I'd better get her nest fluffed up and ready to go. I'd always heard that they took quite a long while to lay. This is very exciting. Marc has such beautiful birds!

Deek I love the black cockerel you sent me. He is so lovely and his keel is getting broader each day. Thank you. Anyone who gets one of your culls is lucky. I am excited to see what his babies look like from Renie's girls.

With bantam orpingtons, what should the size comparison be to large orps, My bantams look very big to me for bantams.
my bantam chocolates are large compared to other bantam breeds, but I believe that Orp bantams are not supposed to be small like other bantam breeds- after all they are still Orps LOL

boy they are gangly and homely at this age... here are some pics for you Roger, my two splash, one regular and one blue splash (physical description) with his lacing and spots lol Julie has the twins to these two, and a little action shot thrown in lol caught that black one leaping in the middle of everyone

They are looking good gal !!!!!!

You all kill me sometimes !! With all the funny jokes, Irene I kept looking & wondering what you were talking about on the rolls of uncovered skin on that pullet & then I saw where you finely said it was my fingers, My eyes are bad to & getting worse, its OK I understand but I knew it was my fingers, I guess its pick on the Dragonlady day today. Glad to be back.

That werent me.. that was Vickie... lol

Very interesting. I will have to watch and see how large my chocolate bantams get. They are very chocolate colored and almost 2 mos now. They are half the size of the solid black Marans that I hatched them out with. The bantam pullets might be less than half the size of the Marans. The bantam cockeral is just a little larger than the girls. I would say they are comparable to our silkies in size about the same age. I would really prefer them to be larger lol. The eggs for orp bantams in chocolate were all I could find at the time.
