The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hi, bumping my questions about English Orps. Anyone have thoughts on this? I am new to this breed. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I'm new to this thread and to English Orps. I have 2 Buff Pullets about 16 weeks of age. Their faces are starting to redden. Does this seem too soon? Is it the same indicator of maturity as with standard hens? Neither is squatting yet but I was surprised to see them coloring so early. Any thoughts on this?

Also, I have 3 chicks blue and buff cross about 3 weeks old. At what age can I start playing the roo/pullet guessing game? Thank you for any help!

I think she said hers started right at 20 weeks too
As far as sexing..each bird is different..some you can tell very early..some take months to be sure. I have to wait until I get an egg before I am 100% positive.

Hey everyone! I'm looking to get some Orpingtons. I'd like nice, quality, maybe even exhibition quality birds. Can anyone recommend some breeders for me? Thanks :)

Pardon the newbie questions, but is there any expected size difference between standard LF colors? I have buff and blue hens and curious if they will be roughly the same size.

I see several people on ebay and other auction places using pictures of birds that they dont own and they claim them as theirs it is sad that people think they have to do that to sale their birds. if they would just take the time at a bit more money they could have birds like the ones on the pictures...any way I am going to remove all of my pics and watermark them so if anyone notices that all my pics are gone that is the reason...dont worry I am not gone

I will re-upload all of the pics into an album on my profile if anyone wants to look at my Orps.

I would be very interested in buuying a small number of hatching eggs from a good reputable breeder of BBS english orps. I don't trust ebay or hatcheries anymore. Been burned too many times.

As a caution..
It is a bit hot to ship eggs or birds. If you do make the decision to try to hatch shipped eggs, understand the risks are a bit higher.

I busted a guy for doing that. He was stealing pictures off the internet of Wyandottes and using them on Ebay to sell eggs. I now use my ranch name across all of my bird pictures. I used to mark them in the background somewhere.
