The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Julie, you do NOT have to apologize about posting those pictures! Those big blue boys are amazingly handsome. I love the contrast in color from their backs to their chest and fluff down below.

I'm no good with names though either, I still haven't started calling my blue cockerel anything other than blue boy.

Julie and Joy, I'm sure both of you will start getting eggs much, much sooner than me. So I don't want to hear it!

JK!

I do really miss eating eggs for breakfast, I refuse to buy eggs from the grocery store, so I haven't had but I think 2 since early November.

Very pretty Julie. Such handsome boys. I could look at page after page of photos of them. For some reason your black boy looks like a Virgil to me. Love these birds.

Hey, I like Virgil. I will think about that.
Kathy I go for type first and then the fine points. You can breed him to a girl with lesser points and he has the genes to produce what you want. I dont think his comb is excessivly large. So use him. you have to hatch a lot and cull heavy when you get the size and what your looking for. It doesnt matter if you take two perfect birds and breed them that doesn't mean the offspring will be perfect.

My first chicks hatched today, from one of Joy's boys and a couple splash girls. So far I have 2 blues and 6 splash's with one to go!
I'll post pictures tomorrow when there fuzzied up. The splashes seem to have more hair then the blues.

Hi all. I haven't posted in a while but I'm always lurking. I've GOT to get pics of my 3 posted. The 2 boys are massive and my girl is turning out so beautiful!!

On names - Chaucer is what came to mind first. Thatcher, Roland, Thaddeus, Ambrose just some unique but very English names

yeah! I finally got my new comp up and running... still on dial up

and the grand babies are are tooooooo!!

I created a group on Facebook under interests called "Imported English Orpingtons". I don't want to use one of my babies as the profile picture. Anyone with a grown up want to volunteer a photo to represent the breed?
