The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hello all! I've been on hiatus for the last couple of weeks, spending all my time raking feathers

, but finally had a chance to catch up on the thread. So many beautiful orp pictures everyone! I thought I'd add to the bunch...

Progression of my favorite blue cockerel from Julie
at four months

At six months old

At eleven months (this afternoon)

with his tail blowing in the breeze. He'll be going to a local show in Central Florida this coming Saturday

I also have a few blue pullets which I am impatiently waiting to mature...
This one is a 3 month old cross of Roger's line and an American line to increase size while retaining lacing

Both of the below pictures are a 5 month old pullet hatched from Roger's eggs with exquisite lacing

6 month old pullet from Nellie's line with nice lacing on her hackle feathers

Two more three month old pullets that are Roger's line crossed with my American line (the one father back looks like someone took a magic marker to her)

And finally, this khaki (mauve) pullet which is what I'll be working on this winter/spring with chocolates from Bryce and Nellie (pic of them to be posted soon - I just can't get them to stand still long enough for anything but action shots)

Thanks for letting me share, and constructive criticism is always appreciated! I'll be uploading more pics of my blacks next...
Sylvia, It's been a while. Your birds look really nice. Nice lacing. Alton

While I was snapping pictures today I caught this young male in the yard. I like it, however I was not sure if it might be over exaggerated. Are his legs set incorrectly and to the rear?

I like this little guy. He has a very nice chest and lower body line on him. I don't think there is a problem with his leg set at all. I think he'll mature out with a very correct front on him.

Hello, I have five English lavender orpingtons with nice tails, and have bought orpingtons from three other breeders trying to find a male with tail. I haven't been lucky. Will my girls with tails help the male tails? or should I go the long way and breed them to a black male that I have? Thanks!

So few Lavenders have good tails, especially the males. I would use your black, rather than breed to a poorly feathered lavender male.
