The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Ewe Crazy (Bryce) does not have BBS. :) he has just about everything else though! I will have blues (eggs) around the end of April, right now have a pen of all blacks. Will be moving some around and have a pen of BBS. one of my blues
Beautiful! :love
Thank You, I dont know how many keep pedigrees on their birds but I do on some of my better ones. This girl is a result of paying attention to where her mother and father came from. She was RV at the last show, the one I forgot at home... possible she could have done better if I had rinsed the soap out of her tail! maybe maybe not but I learned a little... check them after they are dry for a day to make sure you got them clean and rinsed! She still did very well and is 100% English import line. and Thanks Papa Brooder ;) I love the lacing I am getting on the blues. have not hatched many this year so will see if they are passing it on soon enough. I will hatch some for me soon.

A couple "incidental" pics. The first picture I was actually taking it of the Delaware Orp,
but look behind him at the Chocolate Orp hen....

These guys were a little nosy at the fence watching me take pics of the chickens....

Wow, great job!
Thanks Nellie !

And I don't really sew, but my girls are too wide to fit every saddle I've tried. My saddles are 14-15 inches wide, from side to side, so as to cover all the area between the wing and the petticoats. After this weekend, all the boys will be put up, and the saddles come off the girls, as it will be too hot for them to wear them. They have done their job though. I'm showing a huge pullet this weekend who has been wearing one.

Gotta think about the bibs.......

She dips her chest and petticoat in everything (but I love her!).

WOW, RedRainer!

That blue is spectacular! I'd love to get some eggs out of that stock, but I'm in South Mississippi.... in my experience, I've had MUCH better luck hatching out shipped eggs from close locations than from those on the west coast. Just too many postal employees rattling the cages between the west coast and here :( . Anyone with quality English BBS east of the MS with eggs? Seems I remember ?BamaLady? in Dothan Al, with BBS orps a couple years ago?

Looking at the threads and ebay, it seems Gold Laced orps are the flavor of the month (or Jubilees). Personally, I don't care for the Jubilees, but I could also be satisfied with some quality GL orps (if they have nice lacing).

Oh, @heirloomorps my little kids are dying for some quality silkies.... I need a dozen of your whites after checking out your webpage :)

I may just have to change my plans (from a single coop with 35'x 35' run to 2 coops with runs half the size :) )
