The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

No, they aren't black and white, just darker and lighter shades of gray...erm...I mean Lavender.
Btw, his name is Roopecca, so named because as a young "pullet" "her" name was Repecca. Occasionally I refer to him as Mr. Pecca Roo. He's not official show quality other than sheer sexiness. :plbb
Yes. My males spend more time strutting around than anything else.

The lav boy from @homeschoolin momma is still my back up rooster. He looks great from a distance. It's just that his comb is pretty wonky.

I have another young male lav orp from my Aug 11th hatch. His broody bantam mama still babies them. Perhaps "Cookie" realizes this is her last brood for a long time, so she's not letting go. I doubt he'll be strutting anytime soon. They are much larger than their mother by now. LOL

My fav lav girl:
:love She's a dream.
Thank you @homeschoolin momma !!

I'm glad you like her. Shes filling out nicely. I havent seen anymore of that reddish color. Its gone. I think it was mud.

I'm sending my current lav and the black orp with gold leakage to freezer camp. DH has said he'd take care of it tomorrow. Plus the black injured cockerel. The older two keep beating up on my sweet Taj. Blackbeard (as the Alpha) tends to leave him alone. I need to find homes for the other 3 young cocks, but its hard.

My poor lav finally sprouted pin feathers.

Ouch! That does look like a very hard molt.

The lav girl from you is so sweet. She comes running over to me whenever she see me squat down. (Because I'm obviously going to either pet her or give her treats. LOL)

The Lavender pullet looks wonderful. That molting hen just makes me itch and shiver all at the same time. lol Neither of my mature girls molted that hard this year.

So story time...

I got home yesterday and looked everyone over and realized I couldn't find 'Sterling Jr.". I walk the whole yard, the whole chicken pen, check the big house, and the babies tractor and house. No good. I'm thinking what are the odds that something would snatch him when out of the corner of my eye I see a small blue feed bowl move. I walked over there and it starts to move down the fence line. I grabbed the bowl and flipped it over and there the little squirt was. I guess he'd stood on the lip of the bowl and flipped it over on himself. His little legs are so short when he stood up the bowl was about an inch off the ground but he wasn't tall enough to get it off. After I checked him over and set him down by the food and water I had a little laugh, but then I just thought about how grateful I was that I found him. I can't imagine what an undignified way it would be to die. And then I thought he's only been under it for a few hours and not from the evening before.

I wish my Lavender pullet was as round as y'all's. Mine looks like a bean pole compared to those fluffy girls. Suede tried to crow for the first time (or at least that I've heard). It was pretty hilarious. I've had bantams with deeper crows than that. He hasn't tried again since then, but I'm glad he's growing up some more.

How's Sterling Jr doing? Any worse for wear after his turtle dome tryout?
