The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I have a hard time believing there is any validity to that website or their birds offered.

The pictures that they have posted are the same ones that "the chocs" and "calum_to" posted on this thread and their "The Full Orpington Range" thread before they vanished from BYC.

Either these people are working with these guys in the UK to import as you buy, or... something "shady" might be happening behind the scenes. It's just my opinion but I say buyers beware!

Dangit! My Winston roo ended up on my front porch in the middle of our frigid blizzard. I have no idea how, but thankfully my husband saw him. He is now warming up on the back porch that is enclosed. Poor guy looked so bad I thought he was my 6 mo old roos.

I am ready for spring!

From what I have been told, they are in a business agreement with Minh of Cheshire Chicks ("the chocs") here on BYC. The birds are not in the US as of yet. I don't know any details on how they are planning to supply orders...could be, as Jeremy says, they will import birds as they receive orders.

I guess they were "screened" in order to list on featherauction. It's still odd. I asked about the legbars just to see what kind of pricing there is- would honestly like to have some. I don't know anyone that has every bought any so I have no idea what to expect. Wonder if they can beat the going rate of $1000 a pair for jubilee Orps

Oh that kills me.

I have never seen an auction site that would allow you to post an auction when you didn't/don't have the goods... hmmmm too weird.

Ohhh. The auction looks as if they have the birds here, but the one listing has 29 days left or something.

Read on the auction - it actually says that the birds are not in the US at this time.

Here is what is posted on the Chocolate Orp auction. There is also a photograph of a contract that says that they plan to export to the US 9 large fowl Chocolate Orpingtons.

A note from the owners of Featherauction.com

We have been in contact with Harmony Hill Farms and Minh To of http://www.chocolateorpingtonchicken.com/ through both emails and phone conversations to both parties involved and have gathered as much information as possible to validate this auction, Mr. To has provided a copy of his exportation paperwork, everything does check out. We are pleased to announce the import of Standard Chocolate Orpingtons to America and the first batch is due to arrive very soon….before Easter as a matter of fact. We do know the exact date, but need to keep that private until after they arrive for the safety of the birds and the people involved. Please feel free to check out the auction and the websites provided, also please remember Featherauction.com has done all we can do at this time to verify this auction..however we will not be held responsible for any claims arising out of any dispute between a buyer, seller or any other user of this site. We serve as an agent to facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers. We are not responsible for anything contained in the item listings or feedback.

Thanks

Rebecca Foley

Honestly, I didn't even read the entire listing I was so shocked to see all of those colors on a US auction site. I was just going to look at the pretty wyandottes....

So- a pair of day old CLs are $300. I might actually consider that, but I think I'd be afraid to let the poor birds see the sun until I got chicks from them.
