The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Jeremy - I really don't know. And I can't say here what I really think about the whole thing.

You are right..... Harmony Hill Farm did partner up with the owners of www.chocolateorpingtonchicken.com. They have provided us with all the information to validate the auction and the birds have an arrival date already. They will be here before the end of the auction.

We also talked to the breeder in the UK by phone and he forwarded all the paperwork for export and the arrival port and date...... This is about all we can do and more than most free auction sites would do to validate the auction. Our reputation was also put on the line by allowing the auction so trust me...we have looked into it.

I have never seen an auction site that would allow you to post an auction when you didn't/don't have the goods... hmmmm too weird.

We do screen our auctions the best we can and always ask questions when needed. I personally wouldn't sell birds until I have them in hand, but they have partnered with the suppliers so I guess you can say they do have them. Harmony Hills Farm is like the middle man that goes through the import process on the US end so the buyers don't have to.

I honestly am not trying to be Negative Nancy here, but selling live creatures that are not even in the US yet just seems a bit risky. What happens if all those birds die in transit? or if they don't make it during quarantine - it DOES happen. I just think the old saying of "don't count your chickens before they hatch" is quite fitting to this situation.

In somewhat related news, my Blue cockerel was trying to crow yesterday! He tried, that's the key word.

He sounded more like a chicken trying to gurgle mouthwash if you can imagine that! Still not a peep from Edmund though...
