The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Sparkly we would love to see a picture of the gold buffs. Thanks for sharing them.

Onthespot, If you go back through this thread it should be educational. Tail angle, size Width , leg length are a few differences. If you get the Book The Orpington Fowl by Will Burdette there are some very good large page diagrams with the difference besides all the big color picture illustrations of the breed. History of Orps and all. I highly reccomend it for any one starting out with Orps.

I found it on Amazon Renie...it is $130 new...a few dollars more if used!!

Okie Dokie Pokie, I will go there and check it out

thanks bunches

I bought mine from Abebooks. It was used but looked like new. It was shipped from someone in England and took 10 days to get.
Hard copy. I think I paid 80 plus 7 for shipping but that was a few years back.
Glad yall found one.
I was aable to get a first edition. When I was first looking there were some first editions signed by Will Burdette and Joseph Batty.

They give a really good history of how the breed was created for each color. I think it will be helpful for you all.

I was wondering if any of you, who have birds from Julie or Joy are selling eggs yet? I don't really care if the birds are 100% English or got off a plane recently but I'd love to have some that "look" like they are and did.

If you are selling eggs from what appear to be English Orps - you know, the really big fluffy ones - please let me know. I have several original hens and one original roo from eggs from Julie (Aug. 2009) but I want to add some new blood to the mix so I don't inbreed my line. I have lots of offspring but still all from the same one original roo. He's big and gorgeous but the daddy to all.
