I just lost my black English Orp cockeral this afternoon. He was from trio that I got from Joy earlier this summer.
I'm just totally devastated right now!
He has not been ill, was fine all day today when I was out there but late this afternoon when we went to feed/change waters he went up to sit on the water blocks as usual but looked funny in his eyes when I looked at him. I picked him up and sat him down to see what he'd do and he walked normally around the coop but then came and nestled down by my feet. He's always been very docile and friendly like that though. I picked him up again and he looked like he was having a seizure, then just died!!! Never gasped or coughed. No marks on him, no runny nose, no runny eyes, no lameness. I'm at a total loss as what could have happened to him.
The girls were just looking everywhere for him when I went to check on them just before dark
.
Any ideas on what could have made him do this?
Their Flock Raiser is changed every other day, water changed daily unless it's hotter than 90, then AM & PM.
Free choice grit.
Oyster shell for the girls.
5 way scratch
Coop picked daily and fresh pine shavings added when needed.
Searching for answers I guess. Thanks for listening.
