Hello! I was wondering if any of you guys sell blue, splash, white, crele, or lavender orpington's? I am going to be starting 4H, so maybe I could get on a waiting list? PM me if you have any info!
Peachesbabychick,
What state are you located at? Blacks, Blue, White and Buffs would be your best bet for showing the other colors will not progress as far.
This is Astrid. I took the picture at dusk, so it's grainy and fuzzy.
Did anyone else's orps suddenly get huge around the one year mark? My Julie birds did a steady gain but the girls I got from Joy stayed normal orp size then suddenly went english orp.
Beings we are touching on the subject of growth and size... please please please.... keep watch on those leg bands. I almost crippled one of my chicks this yr. I am thinking over the use of leg bands ... may not use them anymore.. may just stick to toe puncher

Earlier in the year I had spiral bands on half of my flock. I was watching closely (I thought) but got to be tight regardless and left marks on 3 of them...one bled so was into the flesh somewhat. I was horrified. HOWEVER...I don't want to do toe punch...I did switch to the fat numbered bands...I think those work better and switched them up on my roo which had huge legs. So far the other 4 banded hens still have looseness on theirs and doubt I have to change up again...but will for sure watch CLOSE!. The chicks grow so rapidly is the biggest problem. I don't have a huge flock but for those with large flocks it would be tough.
