That is AWESOME!!! Nice to see children getting involved in agriculture!

My daughter took English Champion and Reserve Champion at the livestock show this week with her girls.

Oh, but they're catching, aren't they? My first orps, which I still have, were feed store buff orps. They aren't the beauties these are but I love them all the same.

galani, im just in love with that hen in your avatar..always love seeing her.

it is great to see kids getting involved with poultry.
they are the future. we do everything we can for kids who are interested, from giving them free chickens that would be good show bird for kids to teaching the importance of the heritage breeds like the big orps, stressing that they might not be a huge egg producer, but they are so valuable in improving so many other breeds. and just a delight to own...we gave a decent australorp cockeral to a boy in pa. he showed his bird all over and won many jr awards with him

so dh and i help any kids in our area who ask or just want to know something about the birds..

Thanks so much! She is my favorite as well. Feathers way too loose, bad color and all. I just love her. Here's a couple more of my favorite pics of her Her eggs are almost pink with white polka dots all over them. Sometimes they almost look laced. That's probably a fault of some sort too lol but I love looking at them.

there is just something about her galani, cant put my finger on it but i really like that hen. maybe its her overall shape. everytime i see that avatar i smile.

I don't get it, whats supposed to be wrong with this hens colors or feathers ? She looks great !

This is one of my original hens. Is her color/lacing an example of good color and lacing? Do they all have to have the deep blue and lacing or is the light blue without a heavy lacing considered desirable also? I have several hens who are a much lighter blue.

Here's one of her sons - he's several months old and recently added to the breeder pen but I can never get a good picture of him. He runs as if I have a clever in my hand.

It's just the very faint lacing, like OSUman said. As far as "too fluffy" such a thing doesn't exist in my book but I know it does in others. Heck I'd take 20 just like her in a heartbeat!
