The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hello all:
I am looking for some English Black orp eggs to put under my broody BR (she is just a miscellaneous layer/pet we have). I have scanned the "auction" site but without knowing who they are that are selling the eggs I am very - leary. I do want eggs that come from quality stock. Could you please PM me or send me in the direction if you are having an auction. I have a cockerel and 2 pullets, but they have just not yet given me fertile eggs - cold and gray and damp here and they are still fairly young. But we keep trying.

I want to allow my BR to be broody...but I don't want miscellaneous eggs...so I thought what better than to see if I could hunt down a few Black orp eggs to let her have.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Have you contacted Christina?

Yes. She is the one who gave me a couple people to try, but they don't have any available right now. Thought I would just throw this out there in case someone might have some eggs. Right now I stuffed 10 serama eggs under her...but I am afraid she may crush them, so I will put them in the incubator and try to give her some eggs. If I am unable to find eggs I am going to go to the feed store and buy a couple sexlinks for her to raise. They will go into my layer pen.

Oh, I also did not specify....Large Fowl.

Thanks Pips and Peeps. If you hear of anyone will you let me know or tell them to contact me please?

And....I talked to DH about the Montana show and he is sounding interested. I was unable to find it on BYC though. Let me know as you learn more please.

4cats3kids: Have you tried Beth G.? She's a breeder here on BYC, you can check out her web page to see pics of her chooks. She has some big beautiful Eng Orps. Good luck.

ok, I put one of the jubilee orp eggs in the bator 3 weeks ago when I had just separated them from the legbars. It hatched

and looks like a legbar pullet by coloring. I know the genes are a mess but was wondering if anyone knew what would happen if I could use her for any project or if she will just be a cool looking pullet that is big, fluffy and lays green eggs? (which of course would just put her in the laying flock or a "buffer" hen for a roo that doesn't have enough girls)

great article!!!!
i kind of felt my pairing didnt much care for each other and not one fertile egg..it has been almost 2 months too..

Took a few photos this afternoon. This boy will be a year old in two weeks. He is so much like Charlie. I may name him Charlie Jr. BTW he doesnt have any red on his wing feathers. It is just the lighting of this pic
