The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

here are my 6 week old Orps. I'm having a hard time figuring out their sex. Here are some photos. Let me know what you think of them in general too.

I want to say, boy, boy, girl, girl but the second set of pictures of the first chick makes the bird look a lot like a pullet.

So maybe girl, boy, girl, girl? Give it a few more weeks. Watch the comb development, any sign of a bigger pink comb and you've got yourself a boy.

Also, watch the lacing on these chicks. The only Blue that seems to have good lacing at this point is your third chick pictured, I've always seen distinct lacing in my chicks even at a young age.

kidcody, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss!!! Do you have any eggs in the incubator or young chicks to grow out to replace your birds?

I'm not sure why, but loading pictures has once again become quite a chore. What do you think of this blue boy? He's from a different line than my English Blacks. Thank you.

Like OSUman mentioned, he is still very young. I would watch his color, he looks a bit too light and keep an eye on type.

Marc, I did not do the initial cross, but I believe this was one of the pairings used.

I plan on crossing this pullet to my LF Splash rooster, as he is the only male that I have right now. I will only produce Blue splits but the size of the birds should be excellent.

Jeremy, did you only get one chocolate?
