The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hello everyone, I haven't posted in a while on this thread but I just wanted to share photos of the chicks I am growing out this year from tennesseeckn and renie'speeps.

Renie'sPeeps chick at 7 weeks.

Tennesseeckn's

So I have a question about this little gal. She was a very slow to feather, and now her feathers are curling the wrong way. Will they grow in straight after her first molt? I really hope so, I like her shape. (Age 17 weeks)

I just wanted to post a pic of the baby that hatched today. this is from my bama babies from last year. I can't get over the size of this baby and my kids were laughing about the size of its chest and legs compared to the legbars that hatched with it. my luck it will be a roo

eta pic, couldn't add from my phone for some reason

not a great pic but can't find my camera....

I know these are horrible pics but I had to. They wouldn't stay still for the camera. First babies are from Fancychick and I love them! All the chicks with legbands are from her.

This guy is my English Ostrich I got from Fancy chick as well. He is a tall boy:

These little guys I just hatched from banjoejoe:

And the little blue guy hanging out with the Light Sussex, also from Fancy Chick, is the chick I hatched from rebel yell's eggs.

Wowy! They are growing like crazy! Great job!

Good luck with your babies!

Wow. You can really see how far I have to go in regards to lacing when you compare the two blues side by side like that. It's better than last year, but Renee, you're really going to have to tell me your secret.

Are you sure that last one is a pullet? That's an awfully big comb and some really long legs. It could just be the way the pictures were taken, though. When DH walked by the computer he asked, "Is that a turkey?" I wish I could tell you how it'll feather out, but I've not had any hatch out like that... yet... I'm sure it's just a matter of time, though.

This one is from you too.... the lacing is better on this one... but she won't stay still long enough for me to photograph her.

what fantastic photos. Love them all. Sorry no advice regardin the feathers...but love all the photos.

maybe im wrong , but that looks like a cockeral...its just a trait that some of the males are slow to fill in feathers..thou they will fool you on occasion, here is a clipped poodle, he like yours has now filled in more and looks more normal..some of the orps have smaller combs also which makes them even harder to tell apart..last year i thought i had a box of pullets...nope, it took a long time but they were not pullets, well one was..

here is how some of the males feather in..i dont know why, its just one of their traits.
i will get a more recent pic when it quits raining he looks handsome now..by the way thats a nice looking bird.
some them look like a mess until they get rid of the baby feathers..then a beautiful swan emerges..

Thanks for the info. I just figured the comb would be larger at 17 weeks... Here one of the other males at the same age:
