The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

There is no standard for Chocolates yet that I know of even in the UK. They are still trying to get the Jubliblees which used to be accepted and shown years ago in Uk accepted back in. I have not seen anything written up for the Chocolates. Has anyone else seen anything yet? I have no clue what the eye color is going to be. I am hoping the Chocolate breeders over here get together with a common goal in mind for eye color and leg color, beak color.

Thank you BamaChichen!! That's kinda what I wanted to hear. Would love to be a part of that.
Have a great 4th!

Nellie, the chocolate cock bird is from Marc's line. She bred them to her LF black english line.

Thank you

There are some good points made here. Plumage shouldn't be too hard I think. If the chocolates derive from black then it stands to reason that something that would be faulty color in the black would also be faulty in it's derivative, chocolate. Same as the blues which also derive from black so the brassiness/red leakage would or at least should be a fault. As to eyes, beak and legs; do the modifiers or whatever is at work affect these things or just the plumage color? That would make a difference as to what should be desired. Hopefully someone with some experience at least viewing different birds and lines could offer some input.

I feel like I read somewhere that the Chocolate gene not only affects plumage color but it also turns the eyes, beak and legs a brown hue?

You will need to cross to black to keep the deep rich chocolate color - if you breed Choc x Choc and Choc x Choc and Choc x Choc .... over time the Choc will lighten.
You right, i just try to say if she order eggs from UK who have choc with black is cen get choc and black color.
My Big black roo from ramsley and cary the choc gane, i breed him with choc hen and i get some very dark choc chicks.
I will post pic tomorrow, but i also have greenfire and rob boyd line bantams with is much lighter color.
I send lot of time to get the best quality .
