The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Ah ha it appears I was right - why do I doubt myself?! ha ha!

He is a lovely bird, rebel but far closer to what we in the UK would call a Blue due to his dark blue cape rather than a Splash cockerel.

This is a good link to have a look at showing the UK standard colours.

Hope this helps and that I haven't hurt your feelings.

I really wanted to see this link but it didn't come up..:(

Where's the black chickie that everyone is posting? She's really pretty!! What size are the bantams? The blacks are beetles! (Beetle Green...very nice color sheen!)

My bantams are not much smaller than the LF girls, lol! I have one in with my bantam Cochins and he is over double the size of his girls. He's done his job - I did get a chick from them (chocolate Mille Fleur, not the solid chocolate or black I was expecting).

Chocolate Mille Fleur?!

Do you have pictures?

This is a cockerel I once had that was unmistakably Splash. But the older he got, the darker his hackle and saddle got, and people kept thinking he was a blue.

When I see Rebelyell's boy, I don't doubt he's a splash though it does confuse me why some seem to get looking more "blue" as they age.

Look for the tab that says fotos, then click on the beautiful cinnamon chick. Remember drooling is involuntary.

One of my goals is to have very black under fluff. When you look through the pictures, look at hers! Also, type is what I will breed towards.

Very nice, Reyvaughn!!!!

I haven't been here at all either. Too much gloom and muck this winter, and we aren't breeding anything but geese now anyway.
I have one hen that we call Maaaaa. Anytime you get within a few feet of her, she groans. Nonstop. Kind of like Marge Simpson.

She can come live with my drama queen.
