My GLO's are growing so well..thank you again Nellie!! I am blessed!..Sorry your kids are gone..I dislike it when my grandson has to go home..know how you feel. My little girl has passed up the rest of the baby's!! She is growing so fast now!! I will post pictures as soon as I move them outside to the new digs. We are finally having some decent weather. It is calling for 40-50.

The chicks will love all that fresh air and more room. It is funny how such tiny chicks can outgrow a 8 foot brooder in a month.

I am so jealous of the 40-50 degrees. We just had a snow storm this morning. I think they are confused, we are having your weather...........

OK, I'll break the silence. Son came home for a visit

and wanted to see all the animals. Hadn't seen the GL in months. Picked Max right up, and below is a picture of their visit.

Quiet weekend on here. We must all have Spring fever. I know I do. Finally close to 40 over the weekend, so hubby watched the little ones so I could take down the old pen to make room for my new coop. . If the weather holds, I should be able to set poles towards the end of the week.

What resources would you all recommend for educating myself regarding the SOP for English Orpingtons? Are there any books, manuals, or helpful websites?

Lual those are some very pretty mottled.

I have 4 grandchildren here out for spring break. We are making memories best we can with this cold windy weather that has blown in. I have chicks in the house so that can hold some babies. My six yr old grandson has them eating out of his hand. I am trying to stay up with the cooking and cleaning.

There are 2 different threads in BYC american orp and english import threads for picture reference. lot of descriptions in those.

Also UOC has a nice page with photo comparisons and bits to help you with SOP..lots of great information...maybe somone can send or email you what you want to know. just for reference.

I got my new chicks from delisha today!!!!

I got 8 total: 3 black orpington, 2 americauna (1 splash and 1 black), 3 blr wyandottes (2 splash and 1 blue). Hopefully they are all girls, but we did our best!

The 3 orpingtons are 4 weeks old and are outside in the coop with Mr. Gibs. The others are just babies (3 days I think). I initially had them in the garage, but I felt that it was too drafty and cold in there, so I moved them into the basement.

They are sleeping, so I'll have to get pics of them later.

Thank you for your compliment of my birds, Bama! I am in love with their temperament; simply sweet, and loving. But...I am not so sure if they will still love me when they reach maturity?? I have never had an Orp. rooster; I don't know what to expect..

The Orps i got from Renie are my first, but I have a couple of friends who swear by how sweet Orp Roos are. I am sure there are exceptions, but seems to be the general consensus.
