The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Yes,
Sometimes there is a chick who is just a bit slower. As long as the chick has a nice full crop, and does eat and drink. And sometimes there are chicks who have a failure to thrive. You can put a drop of Poli Vi Sol with out iron on the chicks lower beak for a few days to see if that might help. Adding ACV to drinking water. Fermenting the chick crumbles.

Thanks Delisha! Have tried the fermented feed. Chicks are not too keen on it. They like yogurt and cottage cheese though. I was meaning to try the avc
Thanks for everyone's input.

Julie I know your hubby liked him a lot. we did too. you have no idea how angry I still am that he was the only one I have lost to a coyote. in the last 4 or 5 years. It still just irks me every time I think about it. I posted some pics on FB, tagged you in one, as I wanted you to see the young cockerel I put in the pen with Betty Lou. hope they give me some more Betty Lous!!
And thanks everyone for the compliments. she really is pretty and a mix of Julie and Joys stuff.

I've been lurking on this thread for about a year. I have mostly waterfowl, but would like to get some chickens for yard ornaments and eggs and I love the English Orps. How are they at egg laying?

I have two English females, and this is my first hatch with both of them. They are young so I am getting an egg a day from each of them. They will level out and average eggs a year should be around 180-220. They are great mothers and some go broody often.

Soon to be in the big brooder. Water FF
