The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Roger, here is one of your babies..there are 3 running around in there but boy are they fast..almost had a group shot and the blk rooster sounded a warning call...they scattered back into the heated hut ....its the little one bottom left, younger than the others ..looks like really nice babys 5 point combs..really excited about them....its really cold out this morning , they dont care..out they go play around then back inside where its 80 degrees..its going to be in the 70s today OMG!

Roger black..Love them Roger! sorry about my photography, they are fast!

I sent a box of standard blacks to a boy upstate NY..In that box there is a baby we suspect might be an english X baby ,.... mrs softie X boo..It had the longer legs like the blue rooster did when he hatched......after about a week, I thought , well there is only one hen in there and that looks nothing like cole..so they are keeping eye on that one..doesnt look like anything Ive ever hatched out of the standards...something very different about that one..different color it seemed too almost a dark blue...will be interesting ....the blue rooster is afraid of mrs softie, but you never know..there are 2 roosters 1 hen in that pen..
the roosters were raised together , dont give each other a second thought

cole..lost a little volume in bottom area when I plucked..

Not happy that its still so cold

This is how one buff hen lays her eggs..shes very uncomfortable and she hides under the rooster for comfort..he has gotten to the point where he takes her inside and patiently waits..the other hen goes right in the egg box ..this girl is the baby..once she lays the egg, off she goes on her way up to the garden..this rooster is so patient about this..I tried gently putting her inside near the egg box, but she pops right back out runs out back and dives under the rooster..

rear view..that is her head and beak under a very patient rooster..he trys to get away but shes right with him.. LOL!

egg is laid and shes gone

I have a couple brewing right now...there is a singleton then a week later the rest will hatch, they went from no fertile to all fertile LOL...vet said just young hens wernt accepting of the rooster yet..they are now.....He is such a good caretaker to the girls..the english hen is much more independant, Dior is the baby about things..she runs right to him for everything.. Cant wait for my visitor monday morn..Going to go down and pick up breakfast and coffee at mcdonalds..

The first picture is just a great action shot! He is a very handsome boy Renie.
