The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

These are pics of my four 8 week old Black and Blue 100% English Orpingtons. I'm thinking the last Blue in the line-up is probably a roo. The wattles are fairly deep pink and more pronounced. Not entirely sure of the rest. Would put up more full body shots, but my internet is not cooperating. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any takers on genders? Would post again in guess gender, but my internet is extraordinarily bad and it took 2 days to upload these pics. The parent stock, from what I've been told, is from Marc Sacre, if that helps. Thanks for any help.

Hello EO experts! I reside mostly on the BYC Indiana Thread where Kiniska advised me to ask this thread for advice. I have five pet hens and would like two more since I give eggs to my neighbors and relatives. Because I only have room for an additional two, I decided to pay more to buy a Jubilee and a Blue. I have been communicating with chickenridge who lives 4 hours away and I like the idea of being able to drive there and pick them up. chickenridgefarm.com She has a two month old Blue pullet, but the Jubilee is 5 weeks old so she doesn't want to guarantee that it is a pullet. I am posting these photos to see what your experienced EO members think. Thank you so much for your time and interest.

cjickenridge said: This is not a very good picture. I plan to get better ones today and poor little chick is going through the grow out, not so cute phase! LOL She's very healthy, still living in the house! Also my stock is NPIP certified. :)

I have the 5 week old Jubilee Pullet in with the week old Jubilees and 1 Maran, they are doing great. These Orpingtons are very gentle.
Jubilee Orpington. This is the 5 week old

Have a nice day! LOL
That is a cockeral. It's identical to mine at 5 weeks. Less feathering, more white, more upright.

I am in the UK so not imported :)
Here are my three hatched one per day over the Easter weekend.

We don't know if they are Hens or Roos but it shouldn't be too long before we can tell.
They have some leg rings now to aid identification.
Boris is Red, Godzilla is Green and Legless is Blue.
Boris was the first to hatch followed by Godzilla and finally Legless.
Legless is the one with the stubby tail as well.

I do not usually post anything on BYC but I thought I would share with everyone what is occurring within my flock.

I purchased my flock from a breeder in May 2012 and they were sold as 100% Pure Black English Orpingtons. I have now started hatching from this flock and I have hatched several Mottled/Spangled chicks. Due to this it started me on a journey to investigate the background of my flock. That investigation determined the following:

· In approximately 2008-2009 the breeder that imported this line out crossed the American Mottled/Spangled Orpington into this line to create the Mottled/Spangle Orpington.

· The Pure English Mottled/Spangled Orpington was not imported into the United States until 2011.

Since I have proof that my line is not 100% Pure Black English Orpingtons (see picture of mottled chick) I am wondering about the background of the Black/Blue/Splash Pure English Orpingtons being advertised and sold at auction. I have also included pictures of the parent stock.

That's a good looking rooster but he just don't have the 100 % look to me, He is nice & wide looking but the back is a little bit on the long side & not near the fluff in the rear,
Now this is just my opinion & not facts please don't get me wrong because everybody don't breed for the same look maybe its just the way he is holding his tail that gives him the longer back look. The feathering is not as heavy as I am used to seeing, How old is he ?
