The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Did you write 32 in the brooder? Goodness gracious! Whew. I'd love to be able to do that. I just hatch for myself and only hatch a few. But I'd love to play with that many.

Mine got peach peels and melon tonight. Even the 2,3,4 week old babies in the greenhouse brooder pigged out.NO heat on in there. I just put chicks hatched this Wednesday, therefore 3 days old, in there . They all snuggle. One of the things I really love about Orps !Last hatch until Nov. coming off this coming Wednesday. To all who have ordered juveniles for fall : Your chicks are here ! 32 in the brooder, and 14 eggs to hatch.
spinach and fresh corn on the cob here this evening including the 6-7 week olds of course

You all hadn't seen any updates lately of my first generation. This picture is of two my youngest -5 month olds. They are very slowly getting their tails. Their mom was 8 months old before she decided she needed one! This generation I improved size... but...

I believe I am growing bowling balls instead of birds. (Max's fault.) These two are GFF x Heirloom Orps

x

This is their dad at nine months old. (I've now removed his leg band btw)
Bowling balls for sure..they are very pretty...love them to pieces
Here are two of the 6 month olds. You can see their tails coming in. They are getting that cobby look. In the second picture you can see what these naughty girls do all day long. They prance back and forth in front of the cockerel pen. Drives them batty. They are in for a rude awakening IF those boys get their opportunity. If I do decide to breed those young cockerels I will need to put them in with the hens when the time comes. They will need some lessons on courtship. (BTW, their skirts are very black, but they were just dusted)

DragonLady, they do show legs.

All I can say is wow..this girl brought tears to my eyes..look at those wide tail feathers and lacing..that is poetry and art in nature.
One more of the girls teasing the boys.

I promise no more GL pictures. I just couldn't resist in showing how bad my girls are.

I am interested in purchasing some Large Orpingtons in the Jubilee, Mottled, and other rare colors. Do you know of anyone with hatching eggs or young birds for sale?

I am also looking for Bantam Orpingtons in the rare colors as well.

Thanks
I have Mottled/Spangled, Silver Lace, Crele, Isabel, Jubilee, Chocolate, and Chocolate Cuckoo. All are Large Fowl
