The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

More congratulations are in order for Lynne, and Butterfields. He went CH. English again today.

He is 100% English, with stiff tail feathers, and not so long skirts, and just 10 1/2 months old.
Great breeding V and awesome conditioning Lynne.

I know how that goes! I just gave away 10 this week! It's almost too quiet around here now. I am kind of excited if HE does end up being a cockerel, I might play around with the chocolates or khaki I have...

More pics:

This is a 10 mo old cockerel that I love the type and temperament on (not thrilled with the comb, but trying to work with what I have - He's huge and comes from an excellent line of blues). He is an imported line (thanks Julie). I put him over my biggest splash part american hen (who is huge, but has a tiny comb) and this is the result:

the k in the center is the one I posted pics of a few weeks ago that had barring on his wing tips when they came in. Not terribly noticeable, but if you know what you're looking for, it's still there.

I also hatched a couple with him over a blue hen I got from Roger:

She is so strikingly laced in comparison to ones I've hatched before!

One more pic, and my show and tell will be done for the night:

So far (almost 3 mo), she is white with faint lacing on the hackles and head, slate legs, but no color on the beak or comb. White splash? As a descriptive term only, of course. She is out of a nice splash rooster from Roger and either a blue hen of his or my splash hen (I'll have to double check my book). She is also camera shy.

Sylvia they are beautiful. Love the lacing on the pullet. My goodness that boy turned out big and what a fantastic shape. Yes breed to small comb hens and see what you get.

Here are 3 of my 100% English Black Orpington pullets.

This pullet it 24 weeks. I think she may be my best pullet as far as closest to the SOP...what do you think about her?...I cant get the best pictures as she is always on the move hunting for bugs. But I think these show her actual shape and color the best.

this girl is huge she is so wide everywhere. she is 28 weeks and I would say that she may be my best pullet but she has a strange tail I think...she has 2 little tail feathers that stick out further than the rest.

not a good picture at all but you can see what I am talking about with her tail.

28 weeks...This girl is not as wide has her other 2 sisters. She has a longer back

Lots a Clucking: Love your girls! The blacks hold a special place in my heart. I have three pullets from two completely different lines with the same tail issue. Mine are a quite a bit younger and I'm hoping the tails fill out.

Here is a pic I took today of my unique splash pullet who has a whole patch of solid blue
