The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Why not Renies to your (black) cuckoo line? With that, and then An F2 cross you should get some typey english lemon cuckoos.

I believe I read they had a really nice GFF Lemon Cuckoo roo already (course my blacks are really nice too....

I say boy, what does everyone else think? Crossing Renies to GFF should produce some really nice birds.

the dad is GFF so they are already 1/2 english

i do have a sure way to sex a bird

i put it in with my silkie rooster George

if George dances it's a girl

if George attacks the feathers on the back of it's head it's a boy

George is small but has the heart of a lion , he never backs down

when i had him in a rooster only pen he was the top boy in there within 2 weeks

not sure what would happen if i crossed a lemon cuckoo pullet with my splash english orpington rooster that came from Renies

the thing with Britts is you can always get a nice meal if the colors are not correct

your George sounds like my Roger, a pet quality silkie given to me because they couldn't keep him when he started to crow. He has naked legs and feet and isn't any recognized color. When I first got him he was like Roger Ramjet, jumping everything that moved. In a pen of Easter eggers, that were twice his size he would wait for the girls to be laying down dust bathing so he could jump on

He has mellowed out over time tho and now he is a very good boy, calling girls for treats and dancing for them. Silly thing would try and take on the BCM boys through the fence even tho they are several times his size. Now if he's out free ranging he tries to get to my buff plymouth rock that weighs about 9 pounds.... good thing there is a fence

yup they are related

the only real problem i have with him is he will try to jump young pullets

i'm talking 10/12 weeks old

silly rooster, i knock him off of the poor stunned pullet & make sure they are in different pens till she is atleast 25 weeks old
