The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I just got certified to be a NPIP tester in Michigan and the vet went out of his way to warn us to watch for AI; that we are in the Mississippi flyway, and to be sure to notify MDARD if we suspect or see anything.

I think "ALL THE CHICKENS NOW!" should be on a tshirt! lol

I'm struggling with all the cute chick pics and breeders posting upcoming hatches and projects. I need a 12-step program or to be banned from Home Depot lumber dept so I can't make more room.
So many beautiful birds on this string and I love to see the project colors and to see folks trying something new.
I need to take some new pics of my Orps. They are from Papa's and i call them my turkeys because they are so ginormous and fluffy!
There are soooo many lovely orpingtons and so little time. I keep designating new areas of our farm! I recently fenced our 1 acre orchard so I could create a new place for my prized orpingtons!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Here are couple of pics I posted a while back as a comparison for a guy with lavender orps who was trying to figure out what type he had:

English Type

American Type
Great photos!

Chicken Math!

That is one lucky chicken!. Homeschooling?
Oops, I also wanted to say I am not now or in the future working on Gold Laced Chocolates.

or on Gold Laced anything actually. I might buy some in the future......

So many projects and so little space.
Amen sista! For me it's the focus. MUST stay focused on current breeds before I move on...but would one more really hurt?

@JustOrpsNC

Your Blue is the best of the bunch. He's got a nice full breast and has the appearance of overall size. His comb could be a bit cleaner, but overall, he's a nice bird. The splash is 2nd place... comb is a bit too large and tail angle is a bit too low for my preference. He does appear very full, however, especially for his age. The 1 y/o black is just average. Just fair shape overall, wing carriage is a bit low, and overall just not very impressive.

I'd use the blue for breeding, if they were mine.

(of course, looking at pics is just not the same as seeing them in person)

^^^^ thank you, very very helpful. Finding help on these birds is very hard, I'm new, startedc this on my own and don't know anyone willing to help on these imports in my area, this website is the only way I can assure I'm breeding the best I have.
I gladly accept any criticism because I really need it.

Just sharing some chicken pics...This is a 5 month old white delaware orpington from FancyChicks. He looks more columbian to me but he is huge at 5 months. So pretty.

A Delaware is a cuckoo columbian essentially. Don't ask me why they are called Delawares :) Because the bird above does not possess any barring that I can see... I'd call him just a plain Columbian Orpington.
