The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

8 week old EOs that we hatched. I'm fairly sure by stance and comb on some of these whether I have cockerals or pullets, but a few I'm on the fence about. When should I expect saddle feathers?

I have 10 total, but only a few wanted their pictures taken today. :)

I don't remember when mine started showing saddle feathers. I had 4 chicks that were way slower to feather than my other 4. Of those 4 to slow feather, 3 of them ended up being cockerels.

About what age did ya'll pullets start laying? The breeder I got mine from, said her's usually lay around 7 months. Mine are about 4 1/2 months old now, and I have 1 pullet who has starting squatting already. My hatchery hens from last year starting laying about 1-2 weeks after squatting. I was just wondering of the English Orps would follow about the same or not.

Anyone have any Jubilee Orp pullets they are looking to sell? I have 2 & need a few more. I would post in the buy/sell forum but I can only post one ad, so sorry for asking here. Tia :)

Mine started between five and six months old.
