I'm sorry, I wasn't aware there was a penciled laced, but yes I found some. Also called partridge.

Omega hills farm sells them as well as pecknridge. Those were the top two in the Google search. Could be more though. Still pretty expensive as well.

I don't personally know anyone who breeds "penciled" orps, but there are all sorts of new project colors still in the works. I think there's someone in central Indiana who may have both penciled & laced orps. (A customer who purchased some of my project blue laced orps in 2018 mentioned them. Sorry I have no name.) There may be another breeder in Wisconsin. An acquaintance in Chicago got his laced orps up there & mentioned that there were several project colors.

If you do find them, please let me know & post some pics here.

I believe there are several breeders working with Partridge Orpingtons. I haven't personally seen any Pencilled in the States.

Well I lost one of the little pullets the day before Christmas Eve and the other on Christmas Day. Everyone is officially on lock down now and I'm being hyper vigilant when I'm watching them. I still haven't taken the little pullet outside so she's nearly three months and adorable.

I'm sorry about your losses. Do you have any idea of what happened? Was it predator related or possible illness?

I also have a house chicken for now. The 10+ wk old silkied serama is very happy staying in her little plastic storage tub all by herself. Every time she goes within 10 feet of another chicken (or just hears a chicken in the distance) the poor thing freaks out. Thankfully, she's very small and seems content with the current housing.

Her nickname for now is "Solo" and perhaps someday she'll be a "Hen Solo". Right now she's only 6.5 oz.

I suspect the first snatching was a coyote, fox, or bobcat. I described the situation in the predator section of the forum but whatever it was popped the bottom of the wire loose from a fence post and pulled her through at night because the silly girls piled up in a corner instead of sleeping on the roost in the house. I followed the feather trail until I hit the property line. I thought my roommate locked them up for me on Christmas Eve and I didn’t check when I got home at 3 am and she was dead Christmas morning. Head was gone and and most of her breast. There was a huge pile of feathers and she was just outside the house. I think an owl got her.

In my experience fox, coyote, bobcats carry off the kill. They usually eat almost everything but leave feather trails, sometimes chicken feet unless interrupted.

Racoon may just eat the heads and necks off in place or just carry them a short distance. They like to return the next night and eat the rest unless they can kill some more fresh ones. If you leave the corpse out or in a Live Trap and set up a trail cam you can see what you are dealing with.

Well we've not been very active. lol Work has been insane so I haven't had much time to get on here. The weather is disgusting. Tornado sirens Friday night and woke up to snow Saturday morning. Agatha the Blue Orpington is laying eggs! She's so small (and so are her eggs), but she's been letting the males breed her for a week or two and her comb and wattles are super red. I also know she's the only bird small enough to stuff herself into the place she's currently laying. I'd imagine the Prudence, the Chocolate will be laying in a few more weeks. And go figure that Dorcas the Lavender, who should be older than all the pullets, doesn't have a bit of pink in her face yet and isn't laying.

Well we've not been very active. lol

I know. Life's a bit upside down right now. I decided to process Mr Nice Guy today. He definitely had the nicer face of my line (Not to mention a descendant of Mr Dummy - our all time fav roo) but Mr Potential is more genetically diverse. I realized that I needed to move forward and just make a decision, plus the chicken number going down is a good thing. If I find that Potential does not meet my expectations as a breeder, I can always get a new lav cockerel from @homeschoolin momma in the spring.

Potential may get the name "Mr Awesome" if I decide to keep him long term. He is pretty sweet. He has yet to crow. I really hope he got his father's low pitched crow or stays silent.
