The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Beth your chicks are really pretty and healthy looking.

Germaine i look forward to seeing them. I havent' forgot about the eggs. Just waiting till I get my breeding pens together. Charlie is in a molt at the moment.

I thought I would post a picture of one of the two black cockerels I kept out of Tubby's breeding , This was a black pen and my favorite group of blacks. This boy will be 7 months in a few days. I love everything about him but his comb.

Another view and please don't look at the moulting blues that wouldn't get out of the way. Those girls look like 2 dollar chickens right now.

If I could change combs with him and his brother I would. I like the other one who is taller, not as wide but great tail and comb. I may show him in Jan., the brother that is. I will use this boy as a breeder on some girls with good combs and see if we can pass along all the good traits and fix the comb.

Beth, aren't the babies great?
They look just like mine- little chubbers that are so, so sweet.

Bama, that boy looks BIG! What exactly is wrong with his comb though?

Julie, thank you - I think I got some real sweeties in there. Your boy is incredibly handsome, even with the comb- the camera really caught the sheen on his feathers.

Beth, Your babies are just little sweeties! You watch the little one go .... he will catch up quickly I bet.

Julie, Do you have progression pictures of this boy (Tubby, Jr), or of him a couple months ago? I have these 5 blacks, and I am wondering if they look anything he did a couple months ago. I tell ya, these guys are just huge!

Jeremy- sorry, we must have posted at the same time- yes, they are chubbers. I just LOVE chicks!

Kathy, I really hope Skoche catches up- such a valient little soul - he tries so hard to get in there with the big kids.

Julie, is there something besides the number of points on the comb you don't like? This is still a learning process for me, so I would love your critique of it.

Joy, where are you? Get on here and look at your grands!!!

Yes comb is to large. I will post you a pic of a just about perfect comb on a boy a had a few years back

Kathy I will have to look and see if i have any from a month or so ago. Ihope yours turn out really good too.

Beth I will also try and tack some pics of his brother you has a good comb.

I think I will call him TJ/Tubby Jr.

Here is a pic of a Mottled project I was working on for a few years. This boy has a near perfect comb

Not a great picture, but this is one of my favorite black girls. She is very timid and stand-offish.

Here are a few of the girls ......

never mind .... I tried to upload 6 times and can not get it. Will try later....

Julie, thank you, I can see the difference. Did you keep up with the mottled project? That is a beautiful bird, and I love the coloring.

Kathy, she is lovely, I hope you can get some more pictures up- how old is she there?

Beth, She is 5 months old now. That was today (before the torrential rains started). I have 3 black girls that look lovely, as well as 2 blue girls.

I don't know if it is my computer, the BYC site, or my server, but I am having a heck of a time trying to upload pictures. I will keep trying.

Kathy this was TJ about 5 weeks ago
