The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Julie and Joy, I absolutely love looking at your pictures!

I have 5 black boys and only want to keep 2. What do you think of these?

In these .... is the first one (at the top) too tall and lanky, or should I wait and see on him?

You did'nt say how old these are Kathy. Are these from the chicks I sent in Mar? The #1 and #2 look great. If they are only 6 months you need to wait 8 more weeks. They are just starting to look good and you will see a noticable difference. I really like the comb on the number 2 the best. But wait and see. If you are needing Orp body type for your Lav and he is widest deepest with a broad back side he could lend that affect to them.

On number 3 photo that is not a good shot to judge by . They need to be standing on flat surface. I would like to see the one at the top a bit more.

Yeah Kathy - what Julie said. I'd like to see them too.

Julie - love the pictures you posted. I really like Albert - beautiful sheen to him. Maybe he'll grow into his comb? It is a tad large, but I don't think overmuch just yet. You have a couple of pullets there that are just wonderful fluff balls !!! Thanks for posting the Winston chicks...wow, they are growing up fast. I like the little black pullet and the little blue girl. Jury is still out on the blue boys. I LOVE the p;icture of the naughty chicks being sent to the corner for a "time-out." LOL. Too cute.

My 5 Black boys, 5 1/2 months old. I know the next couple months will make a big difference, too. Here they are today. I wanna see if you pick the one I think is best, at this point.

Do ya think that will help? I wanted this picture to turn out, darn it .... You can kinda see the pond in the background and the sunlight is filtering through the trees (now I need to learn to focus better!) ..... Ahhh, anyway ......

Kathy, I like # 5 the best and then #3. However that is my newbie opinion!

Sorry that I didn't answer the question of did I ever find my black roo. No I didn't. In the very short time of taking pictures of the Orps, something came and got the black Roo--during the day.

I knew I had problems but I had thought that the fox/coyote had stopped coming due to the "night predator" lights.

I was only a few hundred feet away from them taking pictures too. I took the blue boy to the grass for better contrast and then out to the coop for the girls.

I agree, #3 and #5 are also my favorites. #5's comb looks a little big, but like you said in a few months he might just fill right into it.
They both look like big, broad boys!

ETA: I like #3's shape better though, he's got that really good tail angle.

I don't like 5 personally.

3 is my favorite with 1 a close second. 1 seems like he will be taller than 3. I'd give time on 2..his back may wind up being better but it looks to flat as of right now.
