OK, I KNOW this is the English Orpington thread, but I need help sexing these young ostriches I got from Joy, and I thought you all might be the people I should come to-

OK, kidding aside- they were so curious about where I put them for these pictures - I hope these are better and you can help me with this:

#1 I am so positive this is a roo I have named him Maximus. He is the big blue chick of Minerva's. 4 weeks old:

#2 Black, right? Another Minerva chick. I have no idea if this is a girl or boy

#3 The other blue chick of Minerva's:

#4 Skoche- I want so badly for Skoche to be a little girl, she is almost 3 weeks old today

#5 This is Skoche's hatchmate, a little blue....????

#6 Minerva's 4th chick, again I think black, correct me if I am wrong. The two that I think are black look so much alike right now - lots of feathers on their backs already and I honestly can't tell them apart - they are even growing feathers in the same spots:

I am no expert but have pretty good luck with my own. I would say that #4 does look like a little pullet, 1,3 & 6 look like little cockerels, as for 2 & 5...

. Good luck, should be interesting to see what everyone has to say. They are just adorable!

#4 and #5 pullets, the rest look cockerels to me.

I agree with Sandy. All cockerels except for two.
