The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

HT that is great. Always glad when they show well.

Joy it is Taylor i am planning on showing. If my black hens get through there molt i want to show at least one of them.
I will go by and drop off at show on the way in then on to Orange Park and spend the nite with my sis.

Joy i am the same way. if they ever start laying i am going to start hatching. The 3 less than a month old chicks I have hatched are two cockerels and a possible splash pullet but a few more weeks will tell with that one.

BTW, anyone have any ideas for names for this guy?

Will he be your first "King?"

The first person to assume the title Rex Anglorum (King of the English) was Offa of Mercia, though his power did not survive him. In the 9th century the kings of Wessex, who conquered Kent and Sussex from Mercia in 825, became increasingly dominant over the other kingdoms of England. The continuous list of English monarchs traditionally begins with Egbert of Wessex in 829. Alfred the Great and his son Edward the Elder used the title "King of the Anglo-Saxons". After Athelstan conquered Northumbria in 927, he adopted the title Rex Anglorum. Starting with Henry II in 1154, the title became Rex Angliae (King of England).

Offa or Egbert?

He's my first English King.

"Bob" (my "Big Boy") is my first love. But he's taller and lankier than this boy. So maybe Henry?

Or Hank?

Henry it is. He has a similar-looking brother... Maybe Richard? The Lionheart? from the Plantagenet lines?

I think I like where this is going.

Ok I may be a bit late for the naming but I will throw out a couple anyway. I like Henry.

Sticking with an English Theme:

2 brothers

Norman and Saxon

or

Henry and Stirling (Stirling Castle being the home to the Scottish thrown)

We just returned from a trip to Stirling Castle, and if his brother is big, impressive and a thorn in Henry's side it would be a fitting name.

Gorgeous Bird!

I love Stirling... I live in Sterling, so it's perfect. And yes, Henry would be very happy indeed if his brother disappeared... they're not liking being roommates for the Winter.
