The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I have a picture somewhere of my large rooster and 3 hens crammed into a small nest box to sleep at night...

MIne all sleep piled in the corner. THey have roosts - they have never used them. I don't mind, because I don't have to worry about them trying to jump down and hurting themselves.

Great news Julie !! I can't wait until he starts breeding. Keep me posted !!!

Mine are all still very unhappy with me. I've switched everybody around in groups that I am breeding and they are NOT happy with their new homes at all !!

On a good note - Dwain went to the foot doc today and he is released for full weightbearing with his Cam walker boot !! He can go back to work on Monday - extra light duty. YAY !!! The war is almost over !!!

WELL.. I guess I am not very good at recognizing colors yet.. haha I hatched out 4 chicks a short time ago.. I thought.. I had 1 blue and 3 blacks.. well <cough> They are feathering out now.. and it looks like I have 1 light blue and 3 dark ones... hahahaha so much for my abilities..

I have a couple and I have no idea how to tell color lol. I have one that is silver and I guessed splash but maybe its light blue? I dunno!

Ah!! ok! mine has no yellow, I have two that are black or blue, they look like the one on the left. the silver is on the right., washed out a bit from the flash. then the other two are buffxsplash and goofy colored. we are trying to guess genders by feather development, or lack of lol

Well, how come my birds are different from all of yours? Mine all roost. As a matter of fact, before I moved them to their Paradise Coop, their roost was 4 ft high, with a ramp up to the droppings board. Now their roost is less than 2 ft high, but they roost every night.

Mine roost too, well all but one rooster in each pen. It's funny, it's like the roo's stay on the floor to protect the ladies! But it's only about a 2' high roost.

What are they all doing in that box?

RedReiner, this is my Edmund as a chick. Like Joy's Nigel he was a very pale silvery yellow color.
