LOL...we are all crazy stuffing multiple incubators full !! I've been trying to wait too, but it's so hard

I just talked to a breeder, and he told me that he could sex an egg! So those of you with the bator's full. Do the gold ring on the string test. Hold it over the egg and if it circles its a girl and if it goes straight back and forth its a boy. See how that works out for you!

He says it has worked for him 80% of the time. Now I don't remember when he did this, but I think it was around day 18 before they went into lock down.

I have a pendulum that I am going to try using - it's works great on other things - why not with sexing chicks in the egg? I'll have to write down the predictions and then the results. Now, if I can just remember to do it !! This old memory just ain't what it used to be

Hm, I have serious doubts about that sexing method...

Still no eggies from my pullets, though they've started making a fuss around the nesting boxes lately, I'm hoping to get an egg from one of them at least within the next week or so. It will go straight into the bator and hopefully 3 weeks later I'll have a little Edmund baby to remember him by. Come on girls!!!

I did just actually start up my second incubator though, my Ameraucanas are giving me eggs left and right and I've got tons of requests for chicks. By the end of March and throughout April I will be so swamped with chicks I don't know what I'm going to do!

Well, besides sit by the brooder all day and play with the cute little ones!

Hi everybody, just had to jump in when I saw the sexing method for chicks.
A lady told me that she could sex my baby when I was pregnant. She used a pure gold ring on a string. But as she was doing it, the ring did both!! First circles then back and forth then circles again.
Later found out I was having twins!!! One boy and one girl! So ya never know.

I put 5 more eggs in the hatcher last night and finally have one from the American style hen. If all of these hatch that will bring me to 12 chicks so far over the last 4 weeks. One more weeks worth in the bator that go into lockdown next week then we are taking a break to let these grow out for a bit.

I wish I had more room but gotta keep a happy medium and room for my bantams.

Speaking of bantams, I know she's not English as she is one of my bantam juvi's.This girl is going to be one gorgeous looker when she is mature. I am loving the lacing she is getting!

I can't wait to show her this fall.

I need opinions on the sex of these two. I will try the gold ring thing when they go to sleep and see what it does. I guess we could test the method over our roo's and hens also. They are 7 weeks old.

They are all tuckered out from being outside!

Here is the brown one that I couldn't figure out. I do believe that a speckled sussex egg snuck in the bator!

YOu know... I need to stop second guessing myself...I was right the first time... I have 3 blacks and 1 blue. ugg The three have green feathers on their backs when the light hits them right. OH and I have new chicks in the bator right now.. Both of them are blues... 8 more eggs for which 4 of them have pips.
