Renie - I tried using a small pair of sharp curved scissors, but they were not strong enough to cut some of those tough feathers. I use a medium sized pair that I have in my sewing basket....kind of like a pair you get with one of those hair shaver things. Did that make sense? I can take a picture of them. LOL.
Well I received good news via PM this morning, Julie will be sending me a splash cockerel directly from her boy Charlie, most likely to be shipped on Monday.
I couldn't be more thrilled, thank you so much Julie!!!
He is the younger cockerel Joy. I figured shipping may be a bit cheaper because he probably weighs less and hopefully integration won't be as rough due to his age.
I really like the way he looks, Julie sent me a picture, he's very "splashy" with lots of darker markings. I'm hoping he helps to produce some pullets that are colored the same way.
I just put another 18 eggs in my incubator last night... Ameraucana and Olive Eggers. Still no Orps.
Hey Jeremy, I was looking at the girls today and noticed that the ones that are red and giving me eggs are smaller than the ones that aren't even pink, yet. Maybe the fact that you aren't getting eggs means that they're all going to be big ole things. I'll see if I can get a picture and get expert opinions.
