The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Sandy you know some of them are just forever giving up the eggs. Sometimes depends on when they were hatched, like the month they come into lay.
Please let us know when you get the grandbaby. I love the grands. I am going to be a grandmother again for the 9th time in Nov. We are just as excited as we were with the first one. My oldest ones will be 13 yrs this year. time flys when your having fun.

Jeremy he is not thinking about that yet. he is still growing. he has fluff nearly to the ground already though. He may be a late bloomer in breeding. His hatch date is Nov 3 if you need it for the record.

Sandy - Clementine & the O's were almost 10 months old before I got an egg from them, so I'm sure you'll be getting eggs soon !! Be sure to let us know when your new grandbaby arrives. I only have 1 grandson, Fox. He will be 4 in August and is a mess. I doubt I'll have anymore grandchildren.

Katy - Keep us posted on your fertility. The fertility here was crappy until I trimmed - it is now a lot better.

Jeremy - Hopefully by the time your girls start laying, your new boy from Julie will be almost ready to do his thing and you'll get some nice chicks from them.

I've got 14 fertile pure English eggs - some of these are due to hatch on 03/24 and some due to hatch on 03/29.

I am gonna pull out one of the roosters. I have 2 in the pen. I have noticed that when one attempts to mate, the other one knocks him off. I wonder if this is the problem. Today, I am pulling one out. On the other hand, I have noticed the girls are not very cooperative either!

Kathy- I definitely would take one of the roosters out. Maybe they don't have time to "do their thing" before the other rooster knocks him off. I would try that for sure. You have enough girls to put in with each boy?
