That is just crazy about the post office. I am sure that the hatcheries are gonna have a fit too.

Let me ask a question.. WHEN was the last time you personally know of the Post Office actually make good on an insurance claim????????????????? I certainly didn't have any luck with them when a present from my Dad was shipped to me from Florida and arrived broken.. IT TOOK A YEAR!!!!!!!!! for them to tell me since the box didn't looked crushed.. they wouldn't pay. MY daughtered worked for a company down in Florida and they refuse to ship any of their products via the USPS... said they NEVER made good on the insurance claims. So there you have it.

I filed a claim when some eggs I expressed mailed to Sandy had two broken eggs and I showed the reciept for where the eggs were paid for and they sent the money fairly quickly for those two eggs. I think it is a waste on Priority mail. But that was nearly two years ago I think. I haven't filed anything since then.

I remember that Julie and it was quickly taken care of. I think 2 years is right.

Yeah Julie, I think they did change the rules somewhere in 2009/10. I know my dealings were just this past year and that was the policy. I think I do remember someone telling me how upset they were about the changes.

Isn't it funny that shipping eggs and/or birds have become so popular which means big $$ for USPS and now the less and less they do for the consumer - go figure..

You would think that with the USPS losing business at a heavy rate - that they would do MORE to keep their customers - instead, they do the exact opposite???? It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. I am going to be calling my PO today and see what she tells me.

ON a good note - I woke up to a newly hatched chick this morning and 6 more pips. One egg hasn't pipped yet and another pipped and some blood seeped out of the egg and the chick died. I've never had that happen before - anybody know what that is about? Hopefully the others will hatch soon !!!

it is quite possible that the chick pipped at a vein....not common but I have had it happen

Thanks KLF73 - I've never had that happen before. I hate it. If I had been up, I might could have tried to help him hatch or something. I just feel really sad. Poor thing. When I went to bed last night it looked like a regular pip - when I got up this morning I found it.

I've had it happen too a few times. I don't think there's really anything to do to help them. They just happen to hit a vein and sometimes they just lose too much blood and don't make it.
