I've spent hours this weekend watching, examining, etc. my part English Orps. Chickenstock is the 23rd and I am cutting harshly. When finished I will have two pens of 5. My only problem is that both of the cockerels are going to be black. I have a spectacular black cockerel and I am getting another one from Sandy. My other cockerels are all going. I have a half decent splash boy but I am just not keeping him. I know I am keeping three black girls who are breathtaking. Two of them are setting right now. I will keep the two nice splash girls and I need to pick out a few more. I have a small blue pullet but she has it all. All that is except height, lol. I am driving myself nuts! Maybe I will just keep the best eight girls instead of ten. But then I have to think about the fall show season. HELP!

I just candled some more eggs. I put 2 big black English girls in with my Lavender Orp cockerel. I see veining!

Well Sandy your are turning out some very nice English birds. your doing a great job. She is a fab looking girl.

I candled tonite and Chester is doing a good job
Also all three eggs from Taylor when I had her confined for a few days are fertile. That is with her bred to Champ. I now have her in with Charlie and all butts trimed. I should be able to get eggs from them in two weeks.

All my little bantam cornish eggs were fertile too. I have two to hatch next week and four more fertiles and set four more tonite. We should be eating chicken in a bout 5 months. Well the boys anyway.

I now have a five month old black pullet from Tubby Jr. that I sent to live with someone else. She is looking really good. She has a great tail and is going to be huge. I may show her in the fall if every thing continues to look good. I have pens of chicks from two weeks to 8 weeks right now. I have a few promising looking ones that are pullets. They are going to be wide from the looks of it.

Both of them are from your stock.

The first girl is lighter blue and her lacing isn't as distinct as the 2nd, but it's there. But the lighting in the coop isn't the best for picture taking.
