Both of them are from your stock.

The first girl is lighter blue and her lacing isn't as distinct as the 2nd, but it's there. But the lighting in the coop isn't the best for picture taking.

I've spent hours this weekend watching, examining, etc. my part English Orps. Chickenstock is the 23rd and I am cutting harshly. When finished I will have two pens of 5. My only problem is that both of the cockerels are going to be black.

And remember, if you only have black roosters, you will only get black and blue chicks from your next generation. I love my black rooster but I'm just tickled I've got a few splash chicks to find a good roo from. I like having all three varieties of Orpington.

Good Morning All, just wanted to start the day by saying Thank You for all the kind thoughts.

On a chicken note, we have moved the older juvi's (5-8 weeks) chicks that we hatched out of my bama kids out to the barn as they were just getting too big for the brooder. There are 7 total outside and out of those 7 I can only see 2 cockerels in the group. AND.. the kicker is they are in the younger group and clearly boys! Looks like I may have an abundance of pullets, could it be??? That is never my luck.

Mary - I want a couple more of those "Playpens." Whenever you are heading towards Rocky MOunt, let me know.

I have chicks a hatchin this morning. I have 9 eggs (thought I had 10, but miscounted). Six chicks are out and the other 3 are pipped.

they all hatch !!

Mary had these really cool little contraptions with her when we met last week that are perfect for playpens for chicks. I bought only one because I wanted to see if the hubby like them - he loved them and now we want to get at least one more. I already have a "playpen" that the hubby made last year out of PVC and hardware cloth, but with teh number of chicks I'm getting this year, I definitely am going to need more than two. I'll try to get pictures of it today and post.
