Chiks that are imported are NOT tested in the country of origin, don't ask me why. I guess that when you vaccinate in the country of origine, the tests here will allways be positive, even without AI in the exporting country, so...

Oh, I would not want to have to deal with that mess of a situation.

A LOT of people aren't happy campers right now, that's for sure!

ETA: So wait, does anyone know if the birds tested positive for AI due to an actual outbreak or because they were vaccinated against it? Or is there even a way to differentiate between the two? Or does the USDA even care?

I think the USDA does the right thing by acting this way.
When you vaccinate against a disease, it's not 100% sure that the vaccinated animal is not a carrier of the bacteria or virus, so if you ask not to vaccinate, you can immediately locate a disease by testing the non-vaccinated animals.

My little Gold Laced chickadees are doing great !! I can't even tell which 2 were the lethargic ones now - they are all running around peeping, eating, drinking, and pooping.

Excuse the overkill, but we are just really excited about getting these little guys, so here are a lot of pictures.
