Chester is awesome Julie!

He has that upright "heart" shape like Kathy's black girl has. I really like that look.

Well, I called about the AI today and they were very blunt about the inability to share a darn thing with me. I'm guessing it won't make the news if that's the way it's handled.

Oh, I'm sure they wouldn't want to confirm anything like that out of fear of panic amongst poultry fanciers and those in the production industry.

Gorgeous pictures Julie !! I'm really impressed with Chester. Be sure to keep us posted on his fertility !!

Charlie is stunning, as always !! You should get some pretty awesome chicks out of that pen !!

I think so to Joy. I will let you know when I candle this week how it is looking.

Jeremy, Chester is a very interesting bird. I am looking forward to seeing what his offspring look like.

I worked outside today. I am sooooo glad I was outside, too! I went inside to grab a drink, and then right back out. I saw a FOX! It was standing at the fence, licking it's lips and looking at my babies! I yelled and DD's fiance' was near by. He ran in and got the gun. He and a neighbor went hunting in the timber for the fox. It was down near the lake-pond behind my house where there are geese. They shot, but missed it.

I don't think it could get inside my fenced area, as I have hardware cloth 2 1/2 feet above ground and 18 inches below ground, over my welded wire fencing. Thing is ..... my Orps and Coronation Sussex were out free ranging, on the other side of the property. OMG, he could have killed them!

Thunderstorms here now (and my internet satellite keeps going off), and will likely continue tomorrow. I am keeping them all penned tomorrow, and may even keep them cooped! I am worried sick now!

Oh my goodness!!! The good lord was watching over me just now!!! I was watching weather because some super bad storms ar about to move in and remembered that I had a pair of calls in an outside pen (no shelter), so went out to put them up. After that decided to double check everyone to make sure they all were inside the inner coops. Normally wouldn't have checked my buff orp coop because they always go all the way in and they have alot more wind/rain break than the others, but something told me to look. The outside door, our to the yard with my chicken killing dogs was wide A open!!! I immediately started looking for dead chickens. Well I immediately found one of the younger pullets roosted only 3 ft off the ground on the fence of the blue/black orp coop, definitely within dog reach!! So I put her up and did a head count. Missing my older hen!! Went a gig a flashlight and started looking and first looked around their coop. Well there she set snoozing it up in yhe brush just behind the coop.... On the ground!!! Thank goodness the dogs didn't get them and thank goodness ur wasn't daylight or I would have been more than 2 short!! Sheesh! Talk about a freak out!!
