The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

You might be surprised how many fox you do have lurking around. Fox are not adverse to city living at all.....lots of plump town kitties and dogs to snack on. Friends who live in basically downtown Denver have had a fox problem for a long time. They acclimate to living with people very easily.

I wouldn't doubt it at all Katy, especially up in the Oakland hills. It's very woodsy there, people have deer in their front yard all the time. Luckily we're not up that far, more towards the flats in the "foothills" of the city. So the most wildlife that we deal with (I think and hope

) are raccoons and oppossums.

Kassandra, we have all of our coops padlocked for that very reason... you just never know how desperate someone might get.

Ha. Oh no I was kidding!! I understand though. I am an ER nurse in a town called Pine Bluff. We call it Crime Bluff. It is always on the top ten crime rate per capita list and has been number one several times. Maybe even most recent? For a town of 60,000ish that's not a good rep!! It's not even a suberb of another bigger city. It stands on it's own.

LOL, I completely understand. Oakland has it's fair share of crime, but like any other big city as long as you stay clear of any issues you most likely will be just fine. We've not once in the 4 years that I'ved lived in the city had a run in with anything bad.

We keep our coops padlocked for security reasons yes but also because I'm incredibly paranoid about raccoons. We've got BIG, GIANT city raccoons here that I know could easily open a simple latch. There's no way they'll get into my coops at night unless they somehow steal the keys from my bedside table... I'd like to see them try and do that!

I took some pictures today, I put a couple of my girls in our new raised bed garden hoping that they would poop a bit so we could mix it in the dirt... well that didn't exactly go as planned, but whatever.

I got some alright pictures of Alice and my black girl Thelma, I took these pictures with my phone so I'm sorry if the quality on some of them isn't the best.

Thelma, I couldn't think of a decent English name for her so the poor gal got stuck being called Thelma, I don't think she minds.

Sorry about the pesky Delaware's tail feathers, she wanted her picture taken too.
