Vitamin B deficiency can look like mareks. Are you feeding medicated feed? If you do feed it for prolonged periods it can cause these deficiency.

yeah, was feeding them medicated until a week ago, I switched them to flock raiser since they are so big and eat so much. I also started adding avia charge to the orps water(haven't done the others, just theirs and my littlest ones that just hatched). I am at a loss. I did try supplementing the original symptomatic birds with B vit, selenium, and something else.....alternating with the baby vit w/o iron...​

just want to make sure..... Joy and Julie, do either one of you vaccinate for Mareks? Before I go vaccinating everyone I want to make sure(not that I know if it matters to dose again if so)...thank you

here are my Bama babies now
the ones on the left were picking at the bugs on the wall, this was a storage shed before dh let me move them to it. The one that is having "issues" is the one way back, the black one against the wall in right of photo. I noticed the problem got worse when I went to take this pic..
funny how their full crops make their chests all seem a little bald

here is the "bald" one I was talking about before....it is a little smaller than the others, which is why I initially started putting avia charge in the water

that is a scratch on the wing, looks like someone stepped on it

From what I've read on Marek's....your chicks have already ALL been exposed and will either pull through and be "carriers" but ok in everyother way...or die. Some people say they breed for "resistance". You caring for the sick chicks...then caring for the others.....well....the dander is carried on you and in air. Therefore...if you can't vaccinate on day 1....sort of a waste. I'm not trying to upset you...perhaps it isn't Marek's. This is just what I've read and discussed with others that vaccinate. I did research on vaccinating and this is what I found out. I'm so sorry to read about what is happening with your chicks....it is very upsetting I"m sure.

Hi everyone - I've been in and out of town for the last few days. My husband's uncle passed away, so we've been back and forth to Charlotte. Looks like I have a lot to catch up on here !!

Krista - I am so sorry to hear of what is happening. I do not vaccinate for Marek's. I'm going to PM you. I hope you get something figured out.

Two lived, two died, then the two that went to the lab. I did not isolate the one I hand fed. It did not spread like "wildfire" and seemed very limited and random. I almost suspect there was something in the feed.

I have been reading the same, hearbreaking posts here on BYC, from at least a half dozen people from all over the country and other countries even... I think it is feed related, or something is amis that is not Mareks, not cocci, not vitamin E related, because all my other chicks were on the same feed, and not isolated from the sick ones. Weird....

Patty, the food is in my basement, definitely not hot and I use ecoglows. The "afflicted" birds all came from the same place and the one that is showing signs was in a brooder right next to that brooder, the ones on the other side of the room have been unaffected. I am going to see if I can get one of the birds tested, just need to find out where to start...who to contact etc....if my theory is correct then all he77 is going to break loose

eta- I did supplement the first bird affected, it's alive but definitely not well. vibrates uncontrollably, can't walk, staggers everywhere and cries ALL the time. eating is a chore as it's vibrating causes the pecking to be jerky...made a chair, food and water always available and it still deteriorated with supplementing vitamins etc...I have more info but can't share yet...

also , the partially paralyzed lav orp seems to be reinforcing this....
