Anne - thanks for posting the pictures. I really like the first picture - he is a nice looking boy and looks to have pretty decent color and comb. He is a BIG boy !!!

Here are a few pics of my chicks that I got from Julie. They are 3 1/2 months old.

First is a black, (I think Roo, do you agree)

same roo...different angle. He is so fluffy and BIG

Next is a Blue roo...he is HUGE...but is a little dark, and has a lighter eye....so I am thinking he should go. Am I right about not keeping light eyes?

Blue pullet...the girls are all pretty obvious, and have great lacing...a couple are a little dark, but I will definitely hang on to them

I wont bore you all with a ton of pictures, but I LOVE these guys and am thoroughly enjoying watching them grow up

Yep, the first picture is a roo and is looking really nice. The pullet is gorgeous !! As far as the roo with the lighter eyes - eye color is an easy fix. If he has good size, type, etc., I would definitely keep him and put him with hens with dark eyes.

I am thrilled here today.... My first home bred English pullet hatched out the later part of Feb 2011 is now breeding with my big favorite blue roo, Levi. Yes indeed.. I had noticed her comb developement and color over the past month.. Saw them breeding in the coop this morning

If she isn't laying yet... I know she soon will be.. Too bad I am done hatching for the yr

Wow Renie, late Feb pullet and already breeding.... I don't think any of my girls are even close.

Kinda glad too, we are moving everyone back into the barn this coming weekend into new runs and doing some separations. I want to keep my young "show potentials" out of harms way from being bred until after fall show season, also going to do another round of culling as I see a few cockerels that can go.

And.... one of my big fat olders girls has gone broody and is bound and determined to keep everyone out of the coop!!

Hopefully bringing them back into the barn this weekend will break her as I have no desire to let her have babies.

Stay cool everyone, looks to be a scorcher today.

Not I. I wish it weren't so far, I would love to go and see all of the birds at such a big show.

I don't ever plan on exhibiting though.

I was wrong about late Feb... found hatch date to be Feb 10th... but that is still pretty good

Now this morning after arriving back home from taking my son to day camp.. My husband said one of the English kids I got from Joy (affectionately called The Britts) was trying to crow.. I am like yeah right.. they don't even have all their feathers yet! I didn't believe him.. any who while sitting here on the comp I heard this RRRrrRRrrr sound come from the dog room not more than 20 feet away. I was dumb founded! Then I heard it again and again! Just had to look up how old these kids are... Hatched May 30th, 2011 Yes in deed I have a Britt that is crowing and doesn't even have all the feathers in his britches yet... lol
