The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Renie, I am in love with this girl!

Is she from your breeding, from Joy or Julie's line?

thank you.. so am I..

She comes down from Julie's line. I got a bunch of real nice blacks early on because the dominent roos were black. I removed the black roos which gave the two blue boys a chance. I have a bunch of young blue hens and a few roos growing out in the coop right now not counting what I have from Joy.

She is dreamy.

ETA: I only have my 1 Black hen right now and I so wish I had more.

Speaking of Julie, I miss her.

She has probably just been busy... Lord knows I certainly know how that feels.. I spent most of the day at the dentist

and it rained all day so the chickens didn't really get much time outside. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.. might get some new pictures

We're expecting rain here next week, I'm not excited at all about it... there is so much that I haven't gotten done yet to prepare for the wet winter season.

Hope the dentist wasn't too painful! My next visit is after the first of the year.

My older girls are molting and not picture worthy. AND, I just can't seem to get any decent pictures of the others.

The splash girl is 18 weeks old and the black in the next picture is older. Splash is 100% Imported from Joy this year, black is from my stock from Joy and Julie from last year.

It is miserable here with all the rain and the temps diving. I too have much to do... Went to the dentist on Friday for a filling and simple extraction that turned into a nightmare
sad.png
The tooth shattered and left the roots intact. She worked for about an hr or so before deciding it was time to cut my jaw bone to get them out since the numbness was wearing off

I have been in alot of pain... and still taking care of all the chickens, goats, dogs, and my family. The winter garden crops are coming along nicely. I do have this one lovely black pullet that has figured out how to get out of the fresh air yard.... Soo funny... she will see me coming.. KNOWING good and well she isn't suppose to be out of the fence... makes a mad dash around the fencing to the stacked pallets ... hops up on them and dives back into the yard... lol She acts just like a kid with her hand caught in the cookie jar........ These Orps are VERY VERY smart!

LOL It always kills me how chickens can act so stupid you just don't believe it one minute then show intelligence like that!

So sorry for your dental trip! I've had more of those experiences than I care to remember. Jaw cut 3 times to get roots out. Be sure you get enough pain killer, don't let that dentist leave you in pain. The trick is, to take the pain pills *before* the pain gets unbearable. Once you let it get that bad, the stuff just doesn't work as well.

Is anyone near Central Alabama selling any hatching eggs or chicks? Large fowl of the English variety and color isn't really an issue but buff/blue/black/splash are the ones I am most interested in. Thanks!
